Sign the petition and let your elected officials
know you want Clean Cars for Minnesota. They need to hear from
you today!
Cleaner cars, SUVs and light-duty trucks are a win-win-win
for Minnesotans' pocketbooks, our health, and the Great Outdoors.
But when it comes to producing cleaner,
fuel-efficient cars and trucks the automakers have dragged
their heels for years while we pay the price…with
cars that burn a hole in our wallets, dirty our air, and
threaten our lakes, rivers and streams with global warming.
According to Governor Tim Pawlenty's Minnesota Climate Change
Advisory Group, Minnesota should pass the state-based Clean
Car standard because it would save drivers up to $260 million
by 2025 while significantly cutting global warming pollution.
President Barack Obama has given the green
light for states to move forward with state-based Clean Car
legislation by directing the federal Environmental Protection
Agency to reconsider the previous administration’s
directive.
As a result, it is more important than ever that Minnesota
join 14 other states in the nation and adopt these more protective
state-based emissions standards for new passenger vehicles
starting in 2012. Minnesotans cannot afford to wait.
